SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

Do you love spending time on social media and want to use your skills to help raise awareness for a nonprofit organization? If your answer is yes, then we need you! Afropolitan Canada is looking for a purpose-driven leader who loves social media and cares deeply about telling great stories that matter to build a better community. 


About Afropolitan Canada:

Afropolitan Canada is a bilingual not-for-profit organization based in Toronto that uses its platform and expertise to support people of the African and Caribbean diaspora in the development and implementation of socio-professional and entrepreneurial skills. We provide soft skills and entrepreneurial workshops, cultural programs, and events to support young women and men in their education and career advancement.


Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, create, launch, and publish digital content (images & videos), in French & English to be posted on Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Plan and maintain a yearly editorial calendar
  • Strategize and test initiatives to build following across social media outlets
  • Create an overall aesthetic to our social channels that fits with our brand, working with our Executive Director develop a social media playbook
  • Maintain digital portal where all creative assets are uploaded
  • Assist the team in monitoring and responding to comments from our audience on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Attend events or experiences to share on social media


Requirements:

  • Fluent in English and have strong skills in French
  • Available 4 hours weekly, with flexibility during event weeks
  • Seeking a degree in Marketing, Media Studies, Design, Photography, Video Production, or a related field, (Graphic Design proficiency is a plus)
  • Experience creating social media content on Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Experience filming and editing short-form video content
  • Comfortable with layout and design, using programs such as Canva, Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, or Illustrator
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets
  • Ability to travel to Toronto studio locations for content creation
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must keep an open mind towards feedback and creative revisions
  • Immaculate attention to detail and high appreciation towards aesthetics 
  • A team player who is comfortable toggling between various tasks with ease, while often working independently


Compensation:

  • $18 per hour
  • Up to 20 hours per month
  • Flexible

PROGRAM MANAGER

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Afropolitan Canada is looking for a strategic project-management leader whose job is to oversee and coordinate Afropolitan Canada’s programs’ Level Up and the Scholarship Fund, and other strategic initiatives across the organization.

Afropolitan Canada is a bilingual not-for-profit organization based in Toronto that uses its platform and expertise to support people of the African and Caribbean diaspora in the development and implementation of socio-professional and entrepreneurial skills. We provide soft skills and entrepreneurial workshops, cultural programs, and events to support young women and men in their education and career advancement.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the redesign of the Afropolitan Scholarship Fund from idealization to completion. 
  • Support the development and implementation of Level Up and its resources. 
  • Manage relationships with Afropolitan Canada’s stakeholders
  • Develop and facilitate workshops to clients and stakeholders
  • Work closely with team members on other duties pertaining to the organization 
  • Prepare and present programs reports, budgets, expenditures and variances
  • Work closely with the Executive Director on fundraising opportunities and applications. 
  • Work closely with the communications team to develop and implement communication strategies including outreach, newsletters and social media posts. 


Requirements

  • Fluent in English with French as a very strong asset.
  • Available 20 hours per month, with flexibility during event weeks.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in program management.
  • Outspoken, independent and proactive team member.
  • Excellent organizational, research, evaluation and report writing skills. 
  • Proficiency with Google App Suite (i.e., Email, Drive, Sheets, etc), Canva, Buffer, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey, Zoom). 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Oversee the facilitating and delegation of individuals to different project teams
  • Make sure that there is effective allocation of common resources amongst the individual projects under the program
  • Manage the dependency of individual projects on each other to avoid mix-ups or duplication of projects
  • Manage all forms of risk that may hinder the progress of on-going projects.


Compensation:

  • $20 per hour 
  • Up to 20 hours per month 
  • Remote work 
  • 6 months with possible extension
