Afropolitan Scholarship Fund

We are committed to supporting the next generation of BIPOC students in achieving higher education. Our mission is to bridge financial gaps, making education more accessible and empowering BIPOC students to pursue their dreams.

The Afropolitan Canada Scholarship Fund addresses the stark educational barriers facing BIPOC students in the Greater Toronto Area. With tuition fees reaching $6,834 in 2022-23 and racialized families being twice as likely to fall below the poverty line, access to higher education remains a critical challenge.

Since 2018, we've invested $36,000 in our community through three essential pillars of support:

1. Scholarship Funding

Direct financial support for post-secondary education

Reducing reliance on student loans (currently 45% for BIPOC students vs 31% for non-immigrant students)

Supporting studies in high-impact fields including STEM, Law, Finance, and Skilled Trades

2. Technology Access

Provision of Chromebooks to ensure digital equity

Access to essential educational software and tools

Bridging the digital divide for remote and hybrid learning

3. Mental Health Support

Access to mental health resources and wellness programs

Building resilience and emotional well-being

This year, we aim to offer two scholarships of $5,000 to deserving BIPOC students across Canada. To learn more about our scholarship opportunities or to get involved, please don't hesitate to contact us.
