Founder and Executive Director
Kelly De Fogain
Kelly De Fogain-Taylor is a bilingual community builder, public policy leader, and social entrepreneur whose work sits at the intersection of equity, culture, and opportunity.
As Founder and Executive Director of Afropolitan Canada, Kelly has built the organization from vision to vital community institution, one that has delivered free swim programming to approximately 700 children and youth across Kitchener and Cambridge since 2023, alongside tennis, soccer, outdoor recreation, and signature cultural events. A passionate advocate for water safety and drowning prevention in newcomer, Black, and marginalized communities, she has made equitable access to life-saving skills a cornerstone of her work grounded in the conviction that no child's safety should depend on their family's income or postal code.
Alongside her community leadership, Kelly is a public servant with over a decade of experience. She holds multiple post-secondary credentials, including a Bachelor in Political Science and Translation studies from York University - Glendon College and a diploma from Harvard Business School Online.
